The people of natural wine are often very different from the average chateau heir. They are farmers, artists, rebels and most often women.
The easiest way to get to know the people of natural wine is to attend a natural wine-fair (speaking of which you can check our calendar for upcoming events here).
What you will experience is most likely very different from a classic wine fair with conventional wines.
Meet and get drunk
First of all the winemakers poor a lot of wine and the visitors are thirsty.
Very often, if you visit on a Sunday, the winemakers are also prone to be hungover. Because usually there’s a lot of partying going on Saturday. Not only at the fair but also behind the scene. Evenings are where relations are formed and maintained.
You get it, right?
The point is that people get DRUNK. Both the winemakers and the visitors.
Far from the average chateau heir
This has to do with the people who make natural wine. They are typically not how you would imagine your average chateau heir whom you rarely see with dirty boots or blue hands or in the vineyard.
They are farmers, they are nerds, they are sensitive, they are artists, they are very often women, they are attentive to their local community, they are autonomous and headstrong, they are foodies, and they are very skilled winemakers.
In another article we labelled the natural winemakers punk. See why here.
